Alain Séchas & Haim Steinbach

Booth n°N04

Despite the apparent gap between their specific practice, both on a conceptual and on a formal level, the paintings of French artist Alain Séchas and the wall texts of American artist Haim Steinbach’s are linked. The dark lines framing Séchas’ cats echo back to the black letters of Steinbach’s found wall texts, while similarities in the use of day-to-day subjects emerge: ordinary human sceneries VS designed words as objects. As this poetic formal link outlines both practices, it offers a lively discussion between two very different bodies of works. For Nova, both artists will work on new pieces, paintings and wall texts especially created to enrich this dialogue.
